About Dr. Placid Sebastian

Dr. Placid Sebastian is a Senior Consultant in Interventional Cardiologist at Aster MIMS, Kannur, which is a tertiary care super specialty hospital. He has more than 15 years experience in interventional cardiology. He performs around 1000 Coronary Angiogram and around 350 Angioplasties every year. Majority of the coronary procedures he performed are done through radial route. Dr. Placid has a vast experience in performing complex Angioplasties with rotablation and OCT guided angioplasty. He routinely performs peripheral intervention, Pacemaker implantation including AICD and CRT. He has also done a large number cases in of congenital heart diseases such as ASD, PDA and PFO device closures. His other area of expertise includes Trans Catheter Aortic Valve Implantation (TAVI), Balloon Mitral and Pulmonary Valvuloplasty and Endovascular Interventions for Aortic Aneurysms. Dr. Sebastian was former Professor of cardiology and was heading one out of two cardiology unit of Sahakarana Hrudayalaya, Pariyaram Medical college. He is also associated with Lourde Hospital, Taliparamba and Amala multi-speciality hospital, Iritty, as Visiting Consultant Interventional Cardiologist. Dr. Sebastian has pursued MBBS and MD (Internal Medicine) from Kasturba Medical College, Mangalore followed by DM in Cardiology from reputed Christian Medical College, Vellore. Earlier, Dr. Sebastian has worked with Christian Medical College Hospital, Vellore and St. Johns Medical College, Bangalore. As a teacher, he was involved in teaching postgraduates of Cardiology and Internal Medicine, and DM senior registrar. Dr. Sebastian conducts Continued Medical Education once a month for General Practitioners and Physicians in and around Kannur. In last 5 years, he has presented more than 30 seminars, 50 journal clubs and over hundred bed side case discussion.
