Dr. Suresh Joshi did his Masters in Cardiac Surgery at the University of Bombay, and stood 1st in the University in 1981. He is trained in KEM Hospital Mumbai, where he taught Cardio-vascular & Thoracic Surgery for several years, before joining Jaslok Hospital in 1988. He had specialised training in Cardiac Surgery at renowned centres in Australia. He is pioneer in the field of “Minimally Invasive Cardiac Surgery” in India. This subspeciality which includes “Beating Heart Surgery” is being practiced at Jaslok Hospital since 1995. In this procedure, Open Heart Operation is performed through a very small cut on either side of the chest, thus avoiding cutting of bones. Almost all spectrum of heart operations is performed by this technique in selected cases. Dr. Suresh Joshi is also the 1st trained Paediatric & Congenital Heart Surgeon in Western India, having performed 1st Open-Heart Operation on new borne baby in Mumbai. Dr. Suresh Joshi has established a ‘Centre of Excellence’ for Heart Valve related Diseases at the Jaslok Hospital.
